The perpendicular organization of lines in the construction of Balenciaga’s 2010 Spring/Summer collection are playful, cerebral and ultimately act as giant slashes – as if to declare its independence from past collection inspirations. Releasing Jennifer Connelly and the luxury fabric covering of previous sets, photographer Steven Meisel captures three new-faced models against the standard gray backdrop. Not a huge fan of the cutout theme, I am however inspired by the angular approach co-mingled with the “look-book” aesthetic.
